Meryl Streep is an American actress known for her incredible skills, versatile roles, and expressive face. Known as the most outstanding living actress, Meryl Streep has been nominated for the Academy Awards (Oscars) an astonishing 21 times and has won it thrice.
Out of 21 Oscars nominations, seventeen nominations were for Best Actress and four for Supporting Variety throughout her career. And, of course, several of those roles weren’t just the most notable ones of her career, but they were also among the most important performances ever put to screen.
Streep is still big at the box office and is one of the highest-paid actresses. And now that she’s pivoted to prestige television, her net worth is rising even better and stronger than ever.
Meryl Streep Earned Big Bucks for Big Little Lies
Meryl Streep was so eager to work with Nicole Kidman in Big Little Lies that she joined the show without seeing a script and eventually was paid big bucks.
According to Variety, Streep’s exact salary hasn’t been revealed yet, but it seems reasonable to assume she got around $800,000 per episode for Big Little Lies. Streep’s rate won’t go down at this point in her career, and Hulu got all the money to pay her. So, it would be fair to say that she’d have also earned more than $800,000, considering she reportedly got paid $850,000 an episode to star in J.J. Abrams’ The Nix in 2016.
Meryl Streep Got $3 Million for Just 5 Minutes Cameo Mamma Mia 2
When box-office successful Mamma Mia! hit the screens in 2008, Meryl Streep’s career was in full swing. Mamma Mia! producer Judy Craymer explained this in her interview, saying Streep is “the most lauded actress” so “she doesn’t do sequels.”
Nevertheless, according to Metro UK, Streep received a $3 million salary for her short cameo. The $3 million salary comes as no surprise since the accomplished actress receives up to $20 million for a role these days. Meryl Streep may not have been interested in starring in being a part of Mamma Mia!, but she agreed to spend five minutes on screen for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, and those 5 minutes cost the studio $3 million.
