The epic finale of Disney+’s The Mandalorian Season 3 gave fans an exhilarating experience that still lingers to the bone. Chapter 24: The Return elicited several rumors and speculations all across social media, with viewers sharing their theories regarding Moff Gideon’s death.
Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon served as the main villain of the franchise, who largely appears at the end of every season to unleash wrath and destruction. His immense power allowed him to build his Imperial base on Mandalore and even create his own army.
The Mandalorian Season 3’s Death of Moff Gideon Stirs Debate Among Fans
Moff Gideon has seemingly met his fate in The Mandalorian Season 3 after he fought Din Djarin, Grogu, and Bo-Katan Kryze and was eventually consumed by the fire. While this looks like an epic ending for the series, many fans are convinced that there’s a mystery surrounding his death.
Indeed, several viewers postulated that Moff Gideon is not yet dead, and it was only his clone that perished in the flames. There is also a hunch that he died several deaths before his story came to a close.
It was revealed that the villain has been making clones of himself. When Din discovered this secret, he destroyed every single one of them. Now, this truth had fans suspecting that the one who died in the season finale was not the real Moff Gideon.
Amid the controversial death of the franchise’s villain, many viewers are satisfied with Moff Gideon’s ending. Fans suggest not bringing the character back to life as they consider his demise a “solid send-off.” Check out their tweets below:
While several theories are presently floating around the Internet, some fans just want to let the character go and accept his fate wholeheartedly. With Moff Gideon totally wiped out, Mandalore is finally free and thriving again.
No Villain Seems To Die Once In The Star Wars Franchise
The Star Wars franchise has a long history of villains cheating death. It is not uncommon, though, since most of these major characters are the bringers of chaos that push the story forward.
One example would be the Skywalker Saga’s antagonist Emperor Palpatine. The former Galactic Empire leader seemingly met his end in Return of the Jedi. But, because of the art of cloning, which is similar to Moff Gideon’s case, he was able to return and wreak havoc.
At this point, no one knows the truth about Moff Gideon’s death. If Jon Favreau plans to resurrect the character, it would require a detailed explanation. It could be because he was clad from head to toe in a Beskar steel armor suit, or he was, indeed, a clone.
Whether Moff Gideon truly perished in the fire or not, fans demand not to touch the character again. This finale could be intentionally designed to confuse the audience and stir speculation. While the third season’s conclusion did not have as many deaths as fans expected, it delivered a fairytale ending and was positively received by the majority of the viewers.
