Is Modern Warfare 3 Bringing Back Fan-Favourite Map with it?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is officially headed to gamers before the end of the year, but this is just the beginning of the hype. The most recent announcement from the Activision franchise, showed off Makarov as the upcoming primary antagonist. The villain was a major player in the original Modern Warfare instalments, and will be likely continue his reign of terror in the rebooted series. Fans will have Makarov to look forward to when the title hits shelves on November 10, 2023. As the plot pushes forward into what many are suspecting will be a World War 3 story arc, there is also a chance players may get to visit a previous map.

When the Modern Warfare 3 teaser trailer for Makarov dropped, there were several quick shots shown in the video that only has a run time of two minutes. Viewers could see plane crash remnants, which are likely the result of the end credit scene from Modern Warfare 2, they observed tattoos come to life on Makarov’s body, and a quick image of the Verdansk map was shown. Those who noticed the fan favourite location were quick to hypothesize about how it will be reintroduced in the upcoming title.

Verdansk was originally featured in the first version of Call of Duty: Warzone. It was switched out by Caldera in 2021, which left many supporters of the map disappointed. The images shown in the trailer highlight the stadium and prison from the vast map. It is unclear exactly how the map will appear, but veterans of Verdansk will likely enjoy seeing it in any capacity. It could appear as a cutscene location, a campaign mission, an additional Warzone map, or in a whole new way.
