For almost two decades now one of the leading series in gaming has been the infamous first person shooter Call of Duty. An annual release that manages to attract a large amount of gamers to buy the new, slightly modified version of killing eachother while being mouthed off too by children. This year’s title is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the third game following the remaster trend that has brought some of Call of Duty’s best sub-titles back to the spotlight.
Modern Warfare 3 is coming back
This year there has been a lot of online buzz and conversations about the possibility of the future of Call of Duty no longer existing on the PlayStation. Microsoft has worked hard over the last year to acquire Activision-Blizzard, which opened the windows open for a lot of games to be exclusive to the Xbox, including Call of Duty. After a long process of legal acquisition, last month Microsoft won a court case in the United States with the antitrust regulator of the Federal Trade Commission, paving the way for the deal to finally close. Despite the Federal Trade Commission planning appeal, Activision-Blizzard is currently owned by Microsoft.
Microsoft has made agreements with Sony to keep Call of Duty multiplatform for the foreseeable future, so PlayStation fans of the games do not have to worry, at least until further details are released. Otherwise Modern Warfare 3 would be the last game in a deal Sony had with the developers prior to Microsoft’s plans. In fact with Modern Warfare 3, Playstaion players are going to get first dibs on the remastered campaign and multiplayer death matches.
PlayStation gets a head start
A recently dropped arabic trailer on PlayStation YouTube confirmed that Playstation users would be able to access Modern Warfare 3 Remaster before Xbox users. A beta for the game will be available 5 days before the game goes live exclusively to Playstation owners. To get your headstart on the competition and practice some of the remastered maps (and hopefully a few new ones) you only have to pre-order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (assuming you haven’t already) and you can express your gun love up to 5 days early.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 2023
Modern Warfare 3 is expected to officially release this November 10 to Playstation 5 and Xbox series X/A, and also previous generations Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Presumably you will be able to play multiplayer matches cross platform, so that no friend is left undefeated. There is rumoured to be at least 1 new large map to learn and master.
