Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was already starting to feel like a cash grab after Modern Warfare 2, when it was revealed the third game was originally only supposed to be an expansion or DLC. But then, publisher Activision started to make claims to hype up fans, such as player saves and plenty of content from the previous game would be transferrable to the upcoming sequel. This gave gamers a bit of comfort to a small extent, but we should have known better given Activision’s previous track record. This was all sounding too good to be true.
In fact, it turns out not every Operator from Modern Warfare 2 will be transferrable to Modern Warfare 3.
Modern Warfare 3 Stumbles With its “Carry Forward” Feature
Earlier this month, the official Call of Duty blog answered many important questions that fans had regarding the upcoming Modern Warfare 3. The post also introduced a new feature called “Carry Forward.” The feature, as the name obviously suggests, referred to giving players the option to carry a lot of content from previous Call of Duty titles, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone, into the third installment. This content would include Operators, weapons, and rewards.
However, the latest news about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has become a source of worry for fans because, in actuality, the “Carry Forward” feature does not include everything players were hoping it would. Although the previous official update was very closely focused on how Operators will be transferable between the two games, publisher Activision has announced its upcoming title will not include all Operators from Modern Warfare 2. In yet another post on the official Call of Duty blog, Activision wrote that the “Season 05 Reloaded” season will feature “special guest Operators” and various “Battle Pass” offerings, as well as “BlackCell.”
The post continued that Season 05 Reloaded will even consist of “launch day favorites like Hutch, Horangi, Nova, and Stiletto,” but what followed next caught the attention of fans the most. Activision said that “nearly every Operator” from the previous games will be playable in the Multiplayer and Zombies modes of Modern Warfare 3. The word “nearly” raised more questions than answers, leaving gamers, who were initially looking forward to the sequel, quite skeptical.

But Which Operators Are Returning in Modern Warfare 3?
The Call of Duty blog post then very vaguely continued that Operators players have “earned” or “recruited” from the “Store Bundle” will be available in Modern Warfare 3 for fans to show off. It is just concerning that even in such a detailed post, publisher, Activision, never once specified anything regarding exactly which Operators will actually be transferable from Modern Warfare 2 into the upcoming sequel. Holding on to your Call of Duty points and not spending them on any of the current Operators would be the smart thing to do until we officially have sufficient information about the whole scenario.
Assuming that fans confront the publisher about the Operators situation, Activision would probably just say that it previously admitted that a negligibly “small amount of content” might not be available in Modern Warfare 3 “if gameplay offerings are different.” It was also said that war tracks would be completely non-transferable to the upcoming threequel. At least fans will be able to access the rest of the content from Modern Warfare 2 with the new game’s “Carry Forward” feature.
