While fans simply kept on wondering, the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness actress Hayley Atwell came forward to confirm the doubts. Addressing fans’ suspicion regarding John Krasinski’s brief cameo, Atwell gave out shocking details about working with The Office actor.
John Krasinski’s Brief Cameo As Reed Richards
Previously teasing audiences with Doctor Strange’s powers to flirt with the multiverses and alternate realities, in Doctor Strange prequel and The Avengers: Endgame, MCU finally dropped Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Giving a hint of how things can go crazy, Marvel Studios sent Doctor Strange to stumble across the multiverses in the second installment.
However, the multiverse and alternate realities are not all that enchanting. Since fans were really excited about John Krasinski‘s cameo in the movie, The Office actor made a brief cameo as MCU’s Reed Richards, making netizens go frenzied on social media. Although witnessing Krasinski in MCU was a fan-casting dream for many, his cameo still created suspicion among fans.
Since John Krasinski’s future as Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four franchise seemed non-existent, fans began wondering if he was indeed a late addition to the film. As Krasinski’s character in Doctor Strange 2 stuck out among the other Illuminati members, viewers grew suspicious of his presence on set. Wondering if the actor was actually on set, filming with the other cast members, fans began searching for answers.
Hayley Atwell Confirmed Fan Suspicions
Eventually, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness actress Hayley Atwell addressed fans’ suspicion during her appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. Speaking with Josh Horowitz, Atwell gave out some key details from her time on the set. Being a core member of the movie, the actress discussed John Krasinski’s brief cameo and made major revelations.
Reminiscing about her experience of appearing in Doctor Strange 2 Hayley Atwell let it slip about John Krasinski’s absence from the set. Discussing the sequences they filmed that later included the actor, Atwell mentioned details that served to answer fans’ suspicion. The podcast host addressed the fans’ questions and asked “what is your recollection, ’cause like, was everybody there when you shot your stuff?” to the actress. To this Hayley Atwell replied,
“No, John Krasinski wasn’t there, Lashana Lynch was there, Patrick Stewart wasn’t there. So, it was weird…”
Thus, confirming that John Krasinski never filmed with the other actors, Hayley Atwell gave out major details and cleared fans’ suspicion. Further, even Elizabeth Olsen confirmed, despite having a scene with John Krasinski, she never filmed the scene with the actor. Considering the revelations from the Doctor Strange 2 actresses, rumors began circulating about Krasinski not being the initial choice for Reed Richards in the sequel.
