Tom Cruise yet again proves why he is the “first” person you go to when things are going south! While the pandemic took a lot from us, Hollywood also paid the price as theaters were completely locked down and movie enthusiasts had to switch over to OTT platforms all around the globe.
Hollywood was in dire need of “saving” and Tom Cruise was the man for the job. Even after carrying the Mission Impossible franchise since 1996, and with the seventh installment just about to hit theaters on July 12, he has proven that he can revive even the dead and bring them back to the cinemas.
But, it isn’t this film that “saved” Hollywood. Instead, Tom Cruise came flying in an F18 to save the cinema-going experience for all of us. The sequel to his original Top Gun, which was released back in 1986, got released last year. Top Gun: Maverick had plans for a 2019 release but it got pushed to a 2022 release, due to the pandemic!
Tom Cruise Likes To Be Straight With His Finances
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One has paid just half of what Cruise got for his involvement in last year’s Top Gun: Maverick which made him an insane $100 million with the help of his backend deal that ensured he kept getting paid from the ticket sales alone. Royalties aren’t even being considered here!
Apart from his average salary of $50 million per year, Tom Cruise is also reaping the profits front, right, and center from his blockbusters. He usually takes around $12-14 million upfront so that after the film gets distributed and the theaters get their cut, the studios and Cruise get their own juice from the incoming ticket sale money.
Not just that, he also co-produces his films and gets credits for that too. His current salary has not yet been disclosed for his upcoming film, but it is believed that he’s getting the usual $50 million as he had cut the deal beforehand.
With $600 Million Net Worth, Tom Cruise Does His Own Stunts!
Apparently, that’s the main reason why he is such a highly-paid actor. According to him, he doesn’t like to put people’s lives in danger when he can perform his own stunts. He has been hurt way too many times, but he enjoys performing the deadly tasks with a smile on his face.
His co-star Vanessa Kirby absolutely adores him and is glad she is part of the franchise. She said –
“He was just so calm. He had no fear. He just found it exhilarating. That kind of belief in cinema and what one could achieve and his passion for it is so inspiring. He kind of believes he can do the impossible, and then he does. I love being a part of the franchise. I’m really excited to come back.”
While Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One is almost here on 12th July, Tom Cruise is set to go another round with Part 2 expected to release on June 28, next year.
