Stunts are usually done by professionals. Stunt doubles and trained personnel work on doing stunts so as to ensure the safety of the cast and crew. That might not be the case for Tom Cruise though. The actor is known for doing his own stunts and also to be a professional with proper training when he does them. Not only that, he makes sure that no one else is making rash decisions just by seeing him, saving their lives in the process.
When it comes to performing those stunts, it is only a matter of time before even the most massive stunts become easy to do, something Angelina Jolie could also relate to. Some stunts leave a mark while others seem to leave a foul taste in the mouth. Either way, Cruise knows just how to grab the audience’s attention and make sure they are just as thrilled as him.
Tom Cruise And Christopher McQuarrie Wanted Bigger And Better
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 is not the first time Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise have teamed up. For their previous projects, they have done various stunts which they believed to be interesting but both of them were left dissatisfied.
“We’ve worked underwater in Edge of Tomorrow, and we worked underwater in Rogue Nation, and we left very dissatisfied with those sequences. And we analyze why we were dissatisfied. What were all the factors working against us? The biggest being, not having real knowledge in that area. Everything you’re looking at in Dead Reckoning is the application of knowledge from previous sequences.”
The director noted how they had tried various stunts including that of being underwater and in the air, none of which managed to live up to his or Cruise’s expectations. He understood why they didn’t like those sequences and what went wrong in both Edge of Tomorrow and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation to make sure that when these stunts are being done in his upcoming movie, the same mistakes do not get repeated.
Tom Cruise’s Upcoming Movie Will Have Improved Stunts
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2 is already underway and the stunts for the same are sequences both Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie have worked hard on. To ensure that no mistakes were repeated, they tried to figure out just what went wrong while they had been filming their stunts on previous occasions.
Not only are there to be improved underwater sequences but there are also going to be aerial scenes in the eighth movie of the franchise. McQuarrie is further going to ensure that no stunts are as physically burdening as those Cruise had done on previous occasions.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2 will be available to watch in theatres from 28th June 2024.
