While Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse finds its success only a small step away from the epic vision of Into the Spider-Verse, the giant leap that Sony now intends to make by introducing Miles Morales into the live-action world is a path paved by divisive criticism and doubt. In spite of this fact, as the audience now witnesses the unbelievable scope of the Spider-Verse stories from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, there is hardly any stopping the momentum of Sony until it shatters much more than just glass ceilings and launches a new dynasty in this era of comic book movies.

Criticism Regarding Miles Morales’ Transition to Live-Action
The significant amount of criticism and backlash that surrounds the recently launched Spider-Verse IP doesn’t have much ground to stand on considering the flawless execution of the ensemble voice-cast comprising the film, Into the Spider-Verse. Its sequel, Across the Spider-Verse, reinstates that success with its equally ambitious yet unbelievably entertaining theatrical experience. But as the studio aims higher in its product lineup for the future, an instinctive dosage of denial and negativity works to oppose the live-action Miles Morales film.
For one, the character already has a presence that is inherently ingrained in the world of animation features. To transport that kind of layered storytelling into live-action would immediately bring with it multiple limitations and a ballooning budget to bring its ambitious visual effects up to par with the expectations set by the Spider-Verse films. The expansive and extraordinary web-slinging stunts seen in animation will also face a roadblock in the live-action sphere and will only be manageable with the aid of extensive CGI and VFX which again defeats the purpose of live-action if, at the end of the day, a majority of the plot is being sifted through the lens of computer graphics.
More importantly, however, the fans have been asking how a live-action version of Miles Morales can be convincingly brought into an already established Spider-Man universe, either in Sony or in Marvel, without causing some kind of disruption to the mainstream storyline. Considering some have pitched a standalone remake of the character would be less confusing, there also exists the likelihood of continuity of the Miles Morales story from his time in the animated universe which sees the character going full-feature live-action after his adventure in Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Whatever the case may be, the final opinion on the matter still stays the same: a transition into live-action is a devaluation of the genre of animation and a disrespect caused in the face of the adaptive industry.
Netizens Cast Their Ballot For Live-Action Miles Morales Film
It is not every day that one gets to witness history unfolding in front of their very eyes. However, that has exactly been the case for every person who has grown up with the Marvel movies in an era when the CBM franchise couldn’t be more welcome and at a time when CGI, VFX, animation, and film technology are progressing and evolving at such leaps and bounds.
However, the increasingly skyrocketing popularity of Marvel, DC, Sony, Disney, 20th Century Fox, and every other studio associated with big-budget CBM franchises still cannot prepare the audience for the emotional response generated in response to such drastic and radical changes made to something they have only grown accustomed to loving so unequivocally. As such, the live-action rendition of Miles Morales is a subject that is getting increasingly difficult for some factions of the fandom to grasp.
With a story as groundbreaking and an experience as transformative as that delivered by the first film, Across the Spider-Verse transports the viewers into a landscape marked by the poignancy and emotional depth never before ventured into by any superhero film before. The sequel which arrives 5 years after the first gets a reception that is as unanimous in its universal acclaim as Into the Spider-Verse and one can only hope that the live-action feature can match the expectations being set by Lord and Miller.
