Microsoft and Bethesda Are Struggling To Plug Up the Constant Stream of Starfield Leaks

Starfield

September 6th may be just any other day for many, but in the gaming community, everyone knows it as the day Starfield will be released, and playable for many fans. The day has never been so close, yet at the same time so far away, and this time of waiting has become fraught with online leaks. Due to the intense movement of the internet in relation to the game, it seems those at Microsoft and Bethesda are becoming very stressed while trying to plug them up.

Starfield Leaks Shake Gamer Internet Ahead of Launch

Microsoft and Bethesda Are Struggling To Plug Up the Constant Stream of Starfield Leaks
Starfield leaks aren’t stopping, even this close to launch.

The closer Starfield gets to launch, the more leaks have come out concerning the gameplay and experience of Bethesda’s title. They have hit the surface of the internet and are reaching the ears of fans far and wide. Most, if not all of this “insider information” comes from Reddit, as it is more anonymous and a safer network for leakers to appear and not suffer retaliation from companies.

There have been brief leaks such as a video showing a supposed player who somehow had access to the final version of Starfield. In the video the leaker talked about the quality of the game and how good, immersive, and adventurous it is. All that in a video that addresses the general public, not just gamers, talking about playing a life in space and what was possible to do in the title.

Another larger video leaked a big chunk of Starfield gameplay that revealed playable parts for about 40 minutes total. As the player commented, this was his “Early Release” access. The same leaker from the video said he was going to publish more gameplay all day on his Snapchat and Youtube channels. As he persisted against the social media websites, his content was removed from their pages, and now only exists in clandestine options on the web.

Starfield leaks are here, but Microsoft and Bethesda aren’t that worried

Leaks tend to harm companies and their products by their very nature of showing content before official release, and not in the best possible form. Nevertheless, these leaks aren’t trying to harm the game in any way, but are indeed hyping it up so other players will also want to play, which could be a benefit for Bethesda.

Lastly, a Starfield leaker broke his silence and stated that he will leak even more images with higher quality and that “this is just the beginning.” DHavenShadow, who leaked the first Starfield gameplay on YouTube, left some comments on the video promising to post more videos in higher quality (with his GoPro) of Starfield gameplay, and even Collector’s Edition content.

Leaks have not seen much attention, since so many gamers have already managed to get their hands on Starfield ahead of time. But what is interesting is that these leakers apparently have not been contacted by the companies with a request to stop. If these leakers were prevented from posting, it would indicate a move by Microsoft, Bethesda, and others involved in working on Starfield to do something about the escaping content. If the leaks at this critical point do not stop, even though they are very difficult or impossible to prevent, they could influence the positive expectation surrounding the product.
