And his portrayal was linked as the major reason that the movie became a must-watch for tech enthusiasts. The Assassin’s Creed star’s performance was so mesmerizing that it landed him his second Academy Award nomination.

However, he was the unlikeliest of actors who could have played Steve Jobs. And the reason is that the star is as clueless about gadgets and technology as a fish out of water. In an interview, Michael Fassbender said,

“I am the worst person with technology, phones, computer… It’s a disaster.”

The X-Men star admitted a couple of times how he suffers navigating the digital world. In a separate interview, he was quoted saying,

“I’m not very interested in technology. I use it pretty poorly. So everything was new to me, to be honest.”

Despite all the odds, the actor managed to do the most convincing portrayal of the Apple co-founder. And surprisingly, the star had fun playing the tech genius.

Michael Fassbender is not the first person to have portrayed the genius inventor Steve Jobs. Over the years many actors have starred as Jobs and each did a tremendous job portraying him. back in 2013, Ashton Kutcher starred as Jobs in the series titled Jobs.

When asked about the thought process and preparation for the role, Fassbender took a dig at Kutcher and said that he studied his acting to prepare for the celebrated biopic.

“I studied Ashton Kutcher.”

He even admitted that he had no idea who Jobs was and was just aware that the famous personality was somehow related to Apple. However, after bagging the role and meeting people who had worked and knew Steve Jobs, the Macbeth star was left impressed and overwhelmed.

“Obviously when he was alive, but since he passed away, you could see that he was still very much present in their lives. Even if the relationships were difficult, there was a sadness and a love there for him that I felt was pretty clear.”

Michael Fassbender might not resemble Steve Jobs, but it was his acting genius that led to the film’s success.
