Michael Douglas Shared a Life-Changing Kiss With Matt Damon After Surviving Stage 4 Cancer

Michael Douglas, the veteran actor and producer had suffered from stage 4 cancer back in his days. It was announced in 2010 that the veteran actor was suffering from tongue cancer and would have to undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

In the movie Behind The Candelabra, Matt Damon starred alongside the actor and they shared a wonderful kiss. In an interview, Michael Douglas revealed that the kiss was not at all uncomfortable and that after surviving stage 4 cancer, he shared a wonderful kiss with Matt Damon.

In the 2013 movie, the two actors were involved in an on-screen romance. With the world-famous pianist Liberace forming a bond with a young lover, all hell breaks loose when Douglas’ character finds solace in bedmates and drugs.

Matt Damon and Douglas were quite the lovers when it came to acting since both the stars shared a wonderful kiss. In a YouTube video that depicted the career of Michael Douglas, the actor talked about his various prominent movies throughout his Hollywood life. Talking about the 2013 movie, Douglas recalled that “Behind the Candelabra was an emotional moment for me, I had just come out of a stage 4 cancer”

“I was in remission. I was alive. I had lost atleast two of my friends to the same kind of cancer during that period and I was offered this wonderful oppurtunity to play this character. And because we had to wait for a while for me to gain weight, it gave me a longer rehearsel time to get the piano down and all of that”.

He further continued,

“Matt Damon, he’s a great kisser, by the way, he’s a great kisser”

Recalling the joyous moment, the duo shared an emotional kiss in the movie and Michael Douglas celebrated his victory over cancer. The actor became more candid since he recalled the premiere of the 1992 film Basic Instinct and how the Cannes Film Festival was awkward because of it.

In an interview, the actor recalled his role in the 1992 film Basic Instinct. Known for being sexually provocative for its time, the movie had quite an impact on people at the Cannes Film Festival when it premiered on the big screen.

“Seeing a lot of those sex scenes on the Grand Palais’ huge screen, it was a little overwhelming for a lot of people. We had a very quiet dinner afterwards, everyone was sort of digesting it,”

He also talked about how the 2013 movie Behind the Candelabra had found some controversy since it was an HBO original but was given a French theatrical release for the Cannes Film Festival in 2013.

“There was a little controversy over [that] because it was made for cable TV and it was released as a feature film here in France. The reality is now, in streaming, they are making movies. If you are fortunate enough, you can contractually get them to require the movie to play in a theater for one week. You cannot underestimate streaming.”

With Michael Douglas and Matt Damon in the lead roles, Behind the Candelabra is available to stream on Max across the U.S.
