Mel Gibson On His Father’s Poor Health Condition 

In one of the episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience, Mel Gibson appeared alongside Dr. Neil Riordan to talk about stem cell therapy which saved the life of his father. The Braveheart star openly discussed the poor condition of his father at an old age. The superstar added that the traditional medical procedures performed in the United States offered temporary relief, but Gibson remained apprehensive about his father undergoing a hip replacement surgery due to his age and the associated recovery challenges.

“It was for my dad who was, you know, he was 92 years old and he was doing all the old man stuff. You know his hip was killing him and he had multiple problems. I mean I won’t get into the whole litany of complaints but hey when your engine starts wearing out, you got to replace the carburetor and a few other things…They clocked every problem that he had everything from you know the prostate to the hip to the kidneys to the heart to the lung you know the whole deal and they stabilized him.”

Mel Gibson Shares His Initial Views On Adult Stem Cell Therapy 

Mel Gibson though luckily stumbled upon Stem Cell Therapy as suggested by his brother as an alternative solution to treat his father. The Apocalypto star shared his initially held reservations, fueled by misconceptions and exaggerated rumors about the treatment.

“They did some orthodox medical procedures all allowed in this country and they were great but you know I still had reservations about him getting a hip replacement cause he was old and of course, just the recovery from a traumatic surgery at that age is like it’s a big deal, and I thought what can I do. My brother says why don’t you look into these adult stem cells. I’m like yeah you know, I’ve heard things about this you know, you grow a spare mouth on your head, you end up with an extra a**hole or something.”

Though luckily all misconceptions of Gibson were cleared regarding the therapy as he connected with medical professionals from Panama, where the therapy was legalized, unlike in the USA. After clarifying all his doubts, the Hacksaw Ridge director decided to use this therapy to cure his father, and luckily the results of the therapy were able to elevate the problems of Mel Gibson’s father.
