Saying that actor Jason Momoa is buff is an understatement. There is a reason why he was cast as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, Aquaman in the DCU, and in the recent Fast X. The Hawaiian native has been asked about his rigorous workout routine, especially after having to look good in shirtless scenes in Justice League and Aquaman.

Contrary to popular bodybuilders of Hollywood such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, Jason Momoa has mentioned that he hates to work out at the gym. In an interview with Daily Mail during the promotions for Aquaman, he said,

“I have not trained since [Aquaman wrapped]. I don’t touch a weight unless they are paying me to do it. I just climb with my kids. Right now, I am working on a show where it is not needed. Unfortunately, I need to get back into shape because I am a little – it hurts.”

Everyone knows that exercise is just half of the battle while staying in shape. Jason Momoa has a very specific diet he follows while training. He undergoes a low-carb diet, usually limiting them to fruits and vegetables, which he has plenty of. His nutritionist mentioned that they did not restrict his favorite foods but instead manipulated his intake to include them.

The actor has expressed how difficult it was for him to get into shape for Aquaman. In an interview with E! News, he said,

“I had to not really eat as much to stay lean. I’m Hawaiian—if we eat, we just get big. So, genetically, it’s hard for me to get trim. You deplete yourself of carbs, so I had a harder time getting lean. I’d rather just get big.”

The actor is also a huge fan of meat. Meat seems to be central to his diet and he has often posted pictures of him having foods with meat in them. However, he avoids processed foods and makes sure that the meat is of a high quality. He has also mentioned that he loved beer and he has crafted his diet to include a can of Guinness beer. With an intense workout regime and a balanced nutritious diet, Jason Momoa has committed to being in shape without losing out on his favorite foods.
