One of the most eagerly awaited Marvel films of MCU Phase 6 is Fantastic Four, but so far we only know two things about it. The revival, directed by Matt Shakman, is scheduled to premiere on February 14th, 2025. Marvel only provided that information about the film when it was announced in 2019. The Fantastic Four cast is still missing as of early 2023.

Doctor Doom is often the major adversary in Fantastic Four stories, but there’s no need for them to start by facing their most formidable foe. Doom is after all only one among many deserving contenders for the Fantastic Four‘s nemesis.

Marvel unveiled three brand-new Kang varieties in the opening post-credits sequence of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. One of them was clad in pharaonic garb. He may be recognized by his attire as Rama-Tut, a figure from Kang’s Marvel Comics chronology who symbolizes a certain period.

The three of them will likely be among the bad guys challenging Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, as implied by this grouping of Kang variants. That scenario does seem plausible given how the movie sets up the upcoming Avengers picture, but it doesn’t mean we won’t see these characters again before then.

Kang’s true name is very much Nathaniel in the Marvel comics. He journeyed to Earth-616’s Ancient Egypt and assumed the guise of Rama-Tut when he tried to escape his fate of being a supervillain. As the Fantastic Four have encountered many Kangs in the comics, there is a lot of time travel involved in this story, and Rama is essentially the first Kang version they encounter.

Fantastic Four might be the final movie to set up Kang the Conqueror

Fantastic Four

The Kang Dynasty could not be a true Avengers tale and instead be yet another crossover film that draws from several MCU facets. If so, their conflict with Rama-Tut may culminate with the team discovering the existence of the Council of Kang, laying the stage for the Fantastic Four to play a part in The Kang Dynasty.

If beating Rama-Tut results in the villains losing a significant portion of their team, the heroes of the MCU may defeat the Council of Kang early on. Alternately, the MCU might draw inspiration from the Rama-Tut tale, in which the character eventually decided to aid the heroes in defeating Kang after experiencing moral clarity.

Moreover, Fantastic Four is better able to establish Avengers: The Kang Dynasty than Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The MCU was able to hint at the Council of Kangs’ objectives but was unable to fully explore them because Qauntumania‘s Kang was not a member.
