Black Widow grew into the kind of character that had major changes and development throughout her numerous appearances in Marvel films. We’ve seen Natasha Romanoff transform from being a mere side character into a protagonist that helped shape the entire plot of the MCU.
Aside from her extraordinary espionage skills, she’s also a master of one-liners. She does not seem to talk much but whenever she does, it is either a brilliant idea or a sarcastic remark.
“Let Me Put You On Hold.”
Natasha made a lasting impression in this one as her introductory scene in the 2012 The Avengers movie. She was working as an undercover, tied to a chair with three men taunting at her. Out of nowhere, one of the men receives a call from Agent Phil Coulson.
She answers the call and upon knowing what the fuss was all about, she told Coulson to hold the line for a while. From there, she beat the hell out of these men and walked away as if nothing happened.
“Thank You For Your Cooperation.”
In his cell, Loki tries to provoke Natasha by stirring her memories and exposing the dirt on every member of the Avengers. The spy agent looked at him with terrified eyes, enough for the god of mischief to notice that she’s on the verge of crying.
As soon as Loki mentions the Hulk, Natasha confidently figures out his plan. She tells everyone to prepare and as she leaves, she thanks Loki for cooperating with her.
“Are You Guys Really That Naïve?”
As the argument gets heated between the Avengers, Natasha tries to intervene by telling her companions how foolish and dense they all are. They argue like kids and they don’t take the matter as seriously as they should. Everything became a personal attack.
Of all the members of the Avengers, Black Widow seems to be the only grounded and level-headed person. She never jokes about someone’s shortcomings and deficiencies.
“I’m Always Picking Up After You Boys.”
Just like in the previous item, Natasha always has to pick up and look after the boys. During a fight, Captain America irresponsibly leaves his shield on the ground and Natasha comes in riding on a motorcycle to collect it. This is why she is the most trustworthy and dependable Avenger. Everyone, including Nick Fury, relies on her.
“Love Is For Children. I Owe Him A Debt.”
When Loki asked Natasha if she has feelings for Clint Barton, she answered that it was all indebtedness. He was supposed to kill her during one of his missions in the past but he made a different call. Now they have become inseparable best of friends.
“This Is Just Like Budapest All Over Again.”
Natasha and Clint have worked together a lot of times before so during the attack in New York, she reminds him of how it looked like what happened in Budapest. Clint, on the other hand, says that he remembers it differently.
“I Got Red On My Ledger. I’d Like To Wipe It Out.”
The most iconic and mysterious line from her conversation with Loki became the central theme in her solo movie, Black Widow. We finally know what it is and why she wanted to erase them all. Natasha had a dark and difficult past, and all she ever wanted was to live with a clean conscience.
