Stephen Amell has been praised for his role as the Green Arrow despite the initial backlash he faced when he was first announced as the character. Ever since he first adorned the hoodie and the bow and arrow, his series and his character have become iconic within the CW verse and outside. His final return to the Arrowverse happened to also be during the final season of The Flash, which was marking the end of the franchise as well.
Now with James Gunn being in charge of the DC Universe, there is a big chance that the actor could reprise his role as Oliver Queen on the big screen as well. He has also exclaimed on multiple occasions about how he would not mind coming back as the character. However, he has conditions that come with it.
Stephen Amell Does Not Want To Do Another Series
Stephen Amell confirmed that he would be open to playing Oliver Queen once again seeing that there is a lot of scope for his character to return. Gods and Monsters have been a project confirmed by James Gunn, so there could be a possibility that Green Arrow makes a return.
“We had a good run on The CW in the Arrowverse, but the idea of 22 or 23 episodes a year… That’s a very specific way to make television, with act breaks and all of those things,” Amell stated. “I had had my fill of playing Arrow in that particular medium. But the idea of going back and doing something on a limited basis or doing a movie [is of interest].”
One condition he had revolved around how he has played the character for 22 to 23 episodes for years. What he wants to experience is not something bound by series. Instead, he wants to play the character on a larger scale outside of what a television series can offer him.
Stephen Amell Has Faith In The Next Superman
Stephen Amell pointed out something many people might miss on. Casting directors know what they’re doing. Roles as large-scaled as Batman, Superman, Flash, and much more need to be picked out very carefully. Whether it was selecting Robert Pattinson as the next Batman or Sasha Calle as the new Supergirl, there was a lot of thought put into the selection process.
“You’ve got to remember that these people aren’t picked at random. Very, very smart people think long and hard about how they’re going to go about this, and I’m sure that whoever they pick, if in fact they do, maybe they don’t care about the character, I don’t know, will do an amazing job.”
While many actors manage to become the face of certain characters, like Amell as Green Arrow, Grant Gustin as Flash, or Tom Welling as Superman. There can always be other actors who take over as the characters in a much stronger manner. A prime example of that could be Henry Cavill’s Superman.
