Being one of the most celebrated stars in Hollywood comes with its fair share of troubles, and different A-listers have their own way of dealing with them. Similarly, in the case of Matt Damon and Brad Pitt, despite being great friends, the Ocean’s Eleven stars have their own way of dealing with their enormous fame.
However, Brad Pitt’s life has stumbled upon controversy after controversy for years, and his messy divorce with Angelina Jolie only added fuel to the fire. And reflecting on the tabloid scrutiny that the Seven star keeps finding himself in, Damon explained he can’t imagine what’s it like being in his Ocean Eleven‘s costar shoes.
Matt Damon feels extremely sorry for Brad Pitt
Despite being some of the most prominent actors of our time, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt have their own ways of managing the celebrity aspect of their life. Unlike Brad Pitt, who has been the center of tabloid scrutiny long before he tied the knot with Angelina Jolie, The Martian star has lived a more reserved life and has kept himself out of controversies for the better part of his career. But witnessing the extreme level of drama surrounding his friend, which skyrocketed after Jolie and Pitt announced their divorce, Damon felt sorry for the Seven star. Damon explained,
“I look at Brad–and I have for years–and when I’m with him I see the intensity of that other side of it and the paparazzi and the insane level of aggression they have and their willingness to break the law and invade his space–well, I wonder about that trade… I remember telling him that I walk my kids to school, and his face just fell. Because he should be able to do that, too. And he can’t.”
But despite keeping himself out of the media spotlight for the better part of his career, the Jason Bourne star did find himself in a career-ending position after making some controversial remarks.
Matt Damon once found himself under severe backlash for some controversial remarks
After making some controversial remarks about the #MeToo movement back in 2017, Matt Damon found himself in the middle of extreme backlash. The actor’s statements about not all s*xuel abuse “belong in the same category” generated huge drama, which led many branding his comments as “thoughtless and sexist.” The actor later come forward to issue an apology, as he explained,
“A lot of those women are my dear friends, and I love them and respect them and support what they’re doing and want to be a part of that change…but I should get in the backseat and close my mouth for a while.”
Apart from a few hiccups, Matt Damon has played it safe for almost the entirety of his career, but Brad Pitt has repeatedly found himself under major controversies ever since his rise to stardom.
