The Oppenheimer star, Matt Damon, and his wife, Luciana Barroso are a Hollywood couple that has stayed strong through the tides of time. But this is not the only relationship of Damon that has managed to stand the test of time despite the constant scrutiny that comes with fame. And that is his friendship with Ben Affleck.
In a crazy twist of fate, it was revealed that it is not just the Jason Bourne actor who is fond of the DCEU actor. His wife too has been on ‘Team Affleck’; and from way before the two had met, fallen in love and got married. The fact has been a standing joke between the couple.
Luciana Barroso has a crush on Ben Affleck
The romantic tales of Hollywood where fans meet their celebrity crush and get married have long been in the headlines. But in the case of Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso, fate had something different planned. Though it might seem like the revelation could cause a problem between the couple or hurt the friendship between Damon and Ben Affleck, the truth is far from that. As we Damon for his cheeky humor, he turned this too into a joke.
In an episode of the podcast, Armchair Expert, the Interstellar actor revealed,
“My wife, in fact, she was the Ben fan before we met. And her best friend was on my team. And so we still joke about that, I’m like, ‘I always got Ilene if Lucy f— me over.’”
Matt Damon further revealed that his wife’s best friend was “Team Damon” and jokes that if his wife were to leave him, “Ilene” would still be an option. The key to a happy marriage.
Matt Damon set one condition while attending couple’s therapy with wife
Though Matt Damon and his wife have been together since 2003 and married since 2005, to call their relationship a perfect one would be untrue. During a promotional interview of Oppenheimer, the actor who played General Leslie Groves in the movie, shared his one condition to return to Hollywood. He had taken a break from acting as he wanted to focus on his family and work on the growing differences in his marriage due to his busy schedule.

The actor revealed, despite his wanting to do his best at the therapy, he had a condition,
“This is going to sound made up, but it’s actually true, I had — not to get too personal — negotiated extensively with my wife that I was taking time off. I had been in Interstellar, and then Chris put me on ice for a couple of movies, so I wasn’t in the rotation, but I actually negotiated in couples therapy — this is a true story — the one caveat to my taking time off was if Chris Nolan called.”
Well, luckily or unluckily, however, you like to see it, the condition of Christopher Nolan calling him did happen. He received the script of Oppenheimer and got the role of Leslie Groves. The actor managed to impress us all yet again with his powerful acting in one of the biggest summer releases of the year.
Oppenheimer is in cinemas now.
