Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 just got some really exciting updates at the highly anticipated State of Play event. We got a better look at the game’s multiple traversal options as well as the ability to switch between the two heroes, Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to 2020’s massively successful Marvel’s Spider-Man. We’re only about a month away from the release of the game, so it’s only natural that we’ve begun to get more news regarding the title.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Innovates On Its Predecessor’s Already Excellent Traversal
Creative Director Bryan Intihar discussed how the new game will be update the already jampacked open world of New York. The game is set to feature a plethora of different traversal options that are sure to make swinging through New York an even more fulfilling experience than it already was.
Web Wings have been introduced that will allow you to glide through the bustling streets of the vibrant city. Combined with swinging, this mechanic is sure to allow you to traverse at breakneck speeds. Based off of the gameplay shown, the animations have also been reworked, and the city looks drop-dead gorgeous.
The city also has new points of interest to visit. You’ll get to traverse from the beautiful skyscrapers of Manhattan to Peter’s stomping grounds at Midtown High and Miles’ current school Brooklyn Visions Academy.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Allows You to Seamlessly Switch Between Heroes
Previously, in the original Marvel’s Spider-Man as well as the spin-off title Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, you could only play as either Peter or Miles, respectively. With this sequel, you’ll get to play the game with either hero and can switch between them seamlessly at will in the open-world.
Both characters will also have content that is exclusive to just one of them. For example, the students of Brooklyn Visions may specifically call upon Miles to help. But there are also quests that can be played with either of the two characters.
Thanks to the power of the PlayStation 5, the switch between the characters is almost instant. It seems like Insomniac Games is utilizing the power of the new console to fullest. Other than these two main topics, the Creative Director also touched on the excellent suit variety that will be present in the game. The more news we get surrounding this sequel, the better it gets.
We’re so close to the release of the game, and I, along with many other Spidey fans, cannot wait to experience the full package. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases exclusively on PS5 on October 20, 2023.
