Along with Starfield, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of the year, and certainly the biggest release of the current generation of consoles, for Sony at least – Starfield is arguably the same for Microsoft.
Since its announcement back in 2021, fans have been clamoring to get their hands on the sequel, and with a few more short months until the game releases on October 20th, it isn’t much longer before we can finally continue the Spider-Man story in the Insomniac universe.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Pre-Orders Are Go!
Available in three editions, fans of the franchise have plenty of options for how they’ll purchase the upcoming sequel. The standard version of the game comes with the base game, an Arachknight Suit for Peter Parker, a Shadow Spider Suit for Miles Morales as well as three colour variants, three skill points and an early unlock for a gadget called a ‘Web Grabber’. These extras are also included in the other two editions.
The Digital Deluxe Edition has seen a lot of press since its announcements, including the above mentioned extras, photo mode frames and stickers, two more skill points and ten unique suits (five for each hero) that Insomniac recently confirmed would not be made available to be unlocked via gameplay. Essentially, if you want these suits, buy this edition.
The Collector’s Edition is the biggest and most expensive (coming in at an eye-watering £219.99/$229.99), but it comes with a voucher/code for the Digital Deluxe Edition, as well as a steelbook exclusive case and a whopping 19-inch statue showcasing Miles and Peter in battle with Venom. Already limited in exclusivity, its further made more difficult for some fans to purchase with it only being available via PlayStation Direct in the UK, US, France, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Austria, Spain, Germany and Portugal. Not fortunate to live in one of these countries? You’ll be missing out or paying a premium to a reseller, unfortunately.
Pre-orders have been live for the last seven hours at the time of writing, going live at 3PM GMT/10AM ET/7AM PT, so time really is of the essence if you’re hoping to grab the Collector’s Edition. Since it went live fans on Reddit and Twitter have shown annoyance at the website dropping out, going down, emptying their basket and other such errors making it a frustrating experience for them.
