Back in 2014, Marvel Studios played a hugely successful gamble by introducing a bunch of B-grade comic book characters as a rag-tag band of heroes who save the universe in the silliest and funniest manner possible. Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1 was a wild ride, to say the least, which ticked all the boxes for a colorful and vivid adaptation of the space-bandits that massively paid off. Starring Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, the movie also stars Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper as the guardians of the galaxy. Apart from the movie’s cinematography, screenplay, direction, visuals, acting, humor, and action sequences, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1 stood out for its daft usage of popular hit songs from the ’60s and the ’70s with the likes of Marvin Gaye, Blue Swede, Norman Greenbaum, Raspberries, David Bowie, Rupert Holmes, and a few other artists throughout the movie which was further continued in the sequel. Now, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy video game, a collaboration between Square Enix and Eidos Montreal will also feature some iconic songs to continue the trend from the movies.

Prior to its release on October 26, its complete soundtrack has been released with some special songs from the ’80s being the major highlight. Famous artists such as Rick Astley, Iron Maiden, Bonnie Tyler, Kiss, Mötley Crüe, Rainbow, Wham, A-Ha, Blondie, Blue Oyster Cult, and a few others have been included in this eclectic yet exciting soundtrack. Interestingly, a fictional band named Star-Lord has a handful of songs lined up on the list. Here is the full list:

The songs from the fictional band Star-Lord are from the album named Space Riders. If having bands such as Iron Maiden and Mötley Crüe were not exciting enough, the songs from Star-Lord are specifically included to inspire Peter Quill and adopt the moniker as his alias. The songs are also said to be played during crucial missions to further amp up the gaming experience to keep the adrenaline pumping.

Guardians of the Galaxy is scheduled to release on October 26 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. A cloud version is also going to be released for Nintendo Switch on the same date.
