Zoe Saldana has an impressive Hollywood career given that she commenced acting with Law & Order TV series. While her early 2000s was a stepping stone in the acting field, she achieved her breakthrough with her roles in the Star Trek and Avatar film series. She gained further prominence by playing Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Beginning her Marvel role from the 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, she is returning to the saga for the final time in the upcoming film. She also gave a sweet message to the film director and co-CEO of Marvel’s rival, DC Studios.
Zoe Saldana Announced Her Retirement as Gamora in The MCU
The 2014 Guardians of The Galaxy was a new concept that many thought might ruin the Marvel legacy. However, the film was an ultimate hit that grossed $773.3 million worldwide. Along with the other ensemble cast, Zoe Saldana who was already a well-known figure for her portrayal in the Avatar saga gained further acclaim with her role of Gamora.
Though the Guardians’ future is still under wraps ahead of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3 release, she has already clarified her plans in the MCU. As she told The Hollywood Reporter, she is done portraying Gamora as the third installment will see her character for the last time.
Giving a hint of the Guardians’ future, she shared,
“I don’t think this is the end for the Guardians. It is the end for me, for Gamora.”
Though the upcoming film will be her last portrayal, she gave a heartwarming message to DC Studios Co-CEO and film director, James Gunn.
Zoe Saldana Shared a Message for James Gunn
In the interview, the 44-year-old actress shared her gratitude to the DC Studios Co-CEO as she recalled the last day of filming the third sequel to Marvel’s trilogy. She had known the cast and crew for over a decade and leaving their side was quite an emotion for her.
“I thanked James for just his time and his patience and his guidance and his friendship.”
The director was previously fired from future Guardians films due to the insensitive tweets that resurfaced. He issued a public apology explaining that he has since matured as an individual and in his work. Even the Guardians’ cast did their best to reinstate him for the film which was a success as Disney rehired him for the new film.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 5, 2023.
