The harshest critique of the Marvel movies is back in town but this time, he has got the Gangs of New York to support him. Martin Scorsese is all set to destabilize Marvel’s TV economy by releasing a TV series set in the Gangs of New York universe that will leave the fans in disbelief.
Scorsese directed the Gangs of New York movie back in 2002 which starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, and Liam Neeson. Although the actors won’t be returning to the TV screen, the series will leave everyone speechless.

The news was broken by Deadline wherein they claimed that the parent company Miramax Television will be making a series based on the 1927 book The Gangs of New York and will be hitting the television screens soon. The series is set to bring Martin Scorsese on board as the Executive Producer of the show with possible hints of even directing few episodes!
Brett Leonard is all set to be the screenwriter for the project and has not divulged any plotlines or the characters of the story yet. Although the project hasn’t been finalized yet, the Shutter Island director has enough confidence in himself as they are yet to pitch the buyers of the series. Alleged reports of Martin Scorsese directing the first two episodes of the series are making their way around the internet which only adds more hype among fans of the veteran director.
The 2002 film Gangs of New York is adapted from the book of the same name by the writer Herbert Asbury. The film starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, Daniel Day-Lewis, and many more among the cast.
Martin Scorsese To Decimate Marvel’s TV Hold?
As per the history books, Martin Scorsese has a habit of winning. HBO’s period drama Boardwalk Empire which followed after the Gangs of New York also had Martin Scorsese attached as an executive producer. Not only that, but The Wolf of Wall Street director also directed its pilot episode which got the director another Emmy to his name.
As per the rumors, if Scorsese was indeed set to direct the first two episodes of the series, the chances of it winning another award go way high up in the sky. Being one of the harshest critiques of Marvel films, the director will have some battles with superheroes and the back-alley gangsters of 1900s New York.
