Alleged reports of Martin Scorsese directing the first two episodes of the series are making their way around the internet which only adds more hype among fans of the veteran director.

As per the history books, Martin Scorsese has a habit of winning. HBO’s period drama Boardwalk Empire which followed after the Gangs of New York also had Martin Scorsese attached as an executive producer. Not only that, but The Wolf of Wall Street director also directed its pilot episode which got the director another Emmy to his name.

As per the rumors, if Scorsese was indeed set to direct the first two episodes of the series, the chances of it winning another award go way high up in the sky. Being one of the harshest critiques of Marvel films, the director will have some battles with superheroes and the back-alley gangsters of 1900s New York.

Gangs of New York is available to stream on HBO Max.
