After the immense success of the Transformers franchise, Mark Wahlberg was given the golden opportunity to become a part of the films. Thus, Mark Wahlberg became Cade Yeager for the fourth and fifth films of the franchise, Age of Extinction and The Last Knight, respectively. Unfortunately, after Michael Bay stepped down from the position of director after Transformers: The Last Knight, Mark Wahlberg, too, stated that he was done with the franchise.
The one thing we all love about the franchise is seeing vehicles turning into epic Transformers. However, there’s one particular vehicle Mark Wahlberg would have loved to see transform in the movies and it makes perfect sense. It looks like the actor has given it a lot of thought!
The Vehicle Mark Wahlberg Wanted to Turn into a Transformer
Whether it is Chevrolet Camaro, Bugatti Veyron, or Ford Mustang, it is always a treat to watch vehicles transform effortlessly into our favorite Transformers. However, despite all these (and many more) awesome cars turning into Transformers, Mark Wahlberg has a complaint. He never got to see an aircraft transform!
In an interview with ScreenRant, Wahlberg was asked if there was a particular vehicle he would love to see go through the transformation. Wahlberg was quick to reply stating that he has been asked this question quite a few times.
“That’s one question I’ve been asked a few times. I just say an aircraft. A plane… preferably a private one that would allow me to go lots of places quickly.”
Well, that is one logical answer. Unfortunately, the Ted actor did not stick around with the franchise long enough to see his dreams turn into reality despite delivering the highest-grossing film of the entire movie series, Age of Extinction. Wahlberg’s Transformers debut went on to make more than a billion dollars at the box office. This largely helped the franchise the $5 billion mark.
Mark Wahlberg Talks about Working with Michael Bay
When talking about the heavy usage of VFX in The Last Knight, Wahlberg was asked whether the making of such a VFX-heavy film was like “a well-oiled machine.” As the actor replied in an affirmative, he went on to praise Michael Bay for how he is responsible for the smooth process and how they absolutely trusted his word.
“Extremely, it is. Although Michael has the whole movie in his head so sometimes he’ll be doing things that will seem to not make sense, but then you see the movie and you’ll understand why. We’ll be in the middle of a scene and all of a sudden he’ll be like, ‘This is not working.’ And you don’t know if he’s talking about necessarily the dialogue, your performance, or whatever. But it may be just the clouds in the background of, you know, the frame as a whole. So we’ll jump from thing to thing, and you just have to be prepared for anything at any time.”
As for who his favorite Transformers are, Wahlberg takes the name of the two main guys – Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. Unfortunately, he will not be working with these Transformers in the future as he has said loud and clear that he is done with the franchise.
You can stream Transformers: Age of Extinction on Paramount+ and Transformers: The Last Knight is available to rent/buy on Prime Video.
