The movie has a lot of scenes that already have brought about a giddy sense of eagerness within the audience and all the released clips of Barbie have had a similar impact.
The themes of the movie may not be as unique but the way that they are being executed sure is. From the use of pink to the way everything is being represented, fans are absolutely loving it. Some of the clips released included a video of Ryan Gosling’s Ken singing and dancing about his life as Barbie’s boyfriend, something he has come to terms with. However, Robbie and the other girls present at the shoot wanted more because of how incredible the music video turned out.
Margot Robbie And Ryan Gosling Talk About Ken’s Song In Barbie
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling discuss the recently released song from the Barbie movie, titled Just Ken, a song about how Gosling’s character feels overshadowed by his Barbie and wants to find his identity outside of being Barbie’s boyfriend. The scene consists of many different versions of Kens who all partake in a complex and dreamy musical number.
“There are so many movies that Greta is referencing you know. Whether it is Grease or any of the 50s sound stage musicals.” she went on, “Like An American In Paris where you’re trying to figure something out. Okay, dreamscape ballet to express his feelings. It’s kind of the thing, but it is so brilliant and so well done and the guys crushed it.”
Robbie and Gosling talked about this, stating that a lot of the dance references a lot of very iconic movies with this particular dance, including the cult-classic 1978 musical, Grease, which is famous for having similar dreamy sequences.
Margot Robbie And The Other Barbies Were Jealous Of The Ken Song
When Margot Robbie was asked how she and the other Barbie actresses reacted to this musical number, the actress revealed that they were infuriated that the Kens got such an amazing dance. She went on to say they even wanted to redo Barbie’s introduction to one-up the Kens as they had set such a high standard for them.
“All of us Barbies were pretty pissed that we suddenly wanted to redo our Barbie dance cause we were like ‘Oh no the bar has been lifted so high.’ We all got together and we talk about it and we were like, ‘maybe an end credits dance or something’ like we cannot let the Kens take this from us. They just crushed it.” She said.
She added that even though they can’t do that, she would love to add an end-credit scene where all the Barbies have their own dance number better than the Kens. She finished this by saying that the Kens did an amazing job she loved what Greta Gerwig, the director of Barbie, did with their song.
