Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has taken the gaming world by storm. The live-action trailer features Karl Urban, so there was already some excitement surrounding the game. Another game that is going to follow the same path is Starfield. The year’s most anticipated game is set to release on 6 September 2023. With upcoming new games, it sure is a festival.
But even among such a large gaming festival, there lies dark clouds brimming with thunderstorms. Recently, the PlayStation fans came to know a specific problem that has happened with Elden Ring. With Starfield to release in less than a week, it looks like it will be a new problem for the gaming community.
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon Faces Problem on PlayStation 5
Recently, fans came to know that Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is suffering the same problem with PlayStation 5 as Elden Ring. The frames per second seem to fluctuate in the PlayStation 5 version. Lance McDonald, a well-known hacker, first discovered the problem. He also found the solution to the recurring problem.
Lance McDonald quoted,“Despite Bandai Namco telling us that the PlayStation 4 Pro build of Armored Core 6 maxes out at 30fps at 1800p resolution, just like Elden Ring, if you boot up the PS4 Pro build on a PlayStation 5 the framerate locks to 60fps. Much smoother than the PlayStation 5 native build.”
He added,“The PlayStation 5 version of Armored Core 6 runs GREAT almost all of the time, but it does have moments of slowdown that aren’t hard to see whatsoever. They mostly happen in cutscenes but also when exploring areas with heavy weather effects. (Yes, this is Framerate-priority mode). By the way I recently reverse-engineered Elden Ring’s PS5 executable and the reason their game runs worse in their PS5 builds compared to PS4 is because their PS5 builds have no compiler optimizations whatsoever. It’s that simple.”
According to Lance McDonald, games like Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon and Elden Ring do not run well on the PlayStation 5 version but instead on PlayStation 4 Pro. So, it can be solved by booting the PlayStation 4 Pro build on the PlayStation 5. Instead of locking it at 30 fps, the games can run smoothly at 60 fps.
PlayStation 5 Lacks Compiler Optimizations
The reason for such harassment of the PlayStation 5 users is that PS5 has no compiler optimizations. The compiler optimization readily impacts the performance of the console. This is the case only in the native builds of PS5.
Apart from the technical issues and the PlayStation problem, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is undoubtedly the best game of the franchise. Every aspect of the game is an improvement from the last. But the question remains whether PlayStation users will face the same problem with Starfield. Everything will be answered within a week.
