The latest photo is the first update to an otherwise silent movie apart from the leaked images of the actors. It will be another addition to Sony’s angle of the Spider-Man Universe away from Tom Holland’s lead character. Madame Web would join Venom, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter in Sony’s attempt to establish its version of the franchise.

Andrew Garfield Could Potentially Return As Spider-Man In Madame Web

Ever since Andrew Garfield wore the spider suit again, fans have been demanding that the actor returns to his iconic role once again. He gave two splendid performances back in 2021 with Spider-Man: No Way Home and Tick Tick…Boom! These movies brought him up in the Hollywood food chain once again and the appreciation he got for his acting was enough to make fans cheer for him everywhere. There had been rumors about Peter Parker returning and being tied to Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and Venom.

Madame Web could possibly absorb the actor purely into Sony’s side of the franchise and follow his version of Spider-Man via the already-established villains and movies. The studios have already been rumored to take up his version of the hero and focus on him. Furthermore, there is a high chance that Garfield’s character makes his proper place in the franchise via Dakota Johnson’s movie and with it becomes the web-slinger for that universe.

Dakota Johnson’s Character Could Have Powers In Madame Web

The new set photo from Madame Web reveals the logo for the movie being a purple and red spider. The spider’s leg transitions into a shadow figure, specifically that of Dakota Johnson as the titular role. While on one hand the origin story of Peter Parker as Spider-Man has been one of the most famous stories, Madame Web’s still happens to be unique on its own.

The character holds special psychic powers that grant her the ability of astral projection and even perform surgeries psychically. This allows her to ignore her blindness as well as her neurological deterioration and hence function as ideally as possible. While it is never made clear as to what gave her these powers, it was said that she herself pushed onto her psychic abilities and worked towards becoming a medium. However, there could be a possibility of her origin story changes a lot. Perhaps even somehow being bitten by a spider, leading to her gaining these powers.

Madame Web will be available to watch in theatres from 16th February 2024.
