Jeremy Renner was run over by a snow removal tractor as he was trying to save his nephew in the snow. The actor had broken more than 30 bones, and his survival was nothing less of a miracle. The Avengers actor was pulled under the heavy machinery on New Year’s Day, as per the records of the Nevada Sheriff’s office. The actor is on the path to recovery, and his strong will is truly commendable. The actor spoke for the first time about the horrifying incident in a recent interview with Diane Sawyer.
Jeremy Renner talks for the first time about the terrible incident
In his first interview over months, the actor opened up about the pain and his survival through it. The interviewer shared that Jeremy Renner’s numerous bones were broken, lungs punctured, shoulder broken, knee broken and the list goes on. The actor said,
“I chose to survive, it’s not going to kill me, no way.”
The Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters actor went on say that he would do it again because the heavy machinery was going right at his nephew. The police had reported that Renner’s nephew was the only witness of the incident and he began screaming for help after the crash as he did not have his phone.
In the interview, Renner’s nephew was seen recalling the incident as he said,
“I saw him in a pool of blood and I ran up to him. I didn’t think he was alive.”
On being asked if he remembered the pain, the actor confirmed that he was awake through every moment of it when the seven-tonne machine crushed him over. He showed lots of strength as he joked,
“I lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium.”
Hawkeye actor was seen getting emotional as Diane Sawyer reminded him about how he apologized to his family in the hospital, using sign language. When she asked him who he sees in the mirror now, he replied ‘a lucky guy’.
Jeremy Renner’s almost fatal accident detail
Renner was trying to stop his snow-removal tractor from sliding toward his nephew, and he was pulled under the vehicle.
As per Washoe County Sheriff’s Office report filed on Friday, the parking brake was not engaged, which could have stopped the snowcat. It started sliding sideways after the 52 years old actor had used it to pull his nephew’s truck from the snow.
Luckily, Renner’s nephew was able to help him until help arrived, the report states. He was airlifted to the hospital, where he was admitted for more than two weeks. He went through at least two surgeries and was treated in the intensive care unit.
