Charlize Theron is one of the most well-known actresses in Hollywood, having worked in massive projects like the Fast and Furious franchise, Atomic Blonde, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Devil’s Advocate, and The Italian Job. She has also been nominated for three academy awards and won one for Best Actress in her 2004 movie, Monster.
It is quite common for actors to not get along with their co-stars during the filming process of a project. Theron is not different here as her distaste towards Marvel actor Tom Hardy was no secret while the two were working on Mad Max: Fury Road together. It would seem however that Hardy isn’t the only Marvel actor the actress doesn’t get along with.
Charlize Theron and Tobery Maguire Did Not Get Along On The Set Of The Cider House Rules
Charlize Theron and Spider-Man actor, Tobey Maguire starred together in the 1999 coming-of-age drama movie, The Cider House Rules. While Theron has quite well-known for being an avid boundary setter, Maguire also has a reputation for being difficult to work with, which caused the two to but heads quite a lot on the set of the movie. Theron has been quite open about what transpired behind the scenes between the two actors, talking to V Magazine about it.
“It was a difficult movie. Every day is completely different for a completely different reason. Whether it’s the weather, or the writing isn’t there, or you don’t get along with your castmate, you have to be able to go to something else that’s just as powerful,” she mentioned, “We had some really intimate moments. Tobey and I didn’t feel that way about each other, so I had to figure something else out,”
The actress talked about how the process of filming the movie was quite difficult for her due to her aversion towards Maguire, a feeling which was mutual between the two. The two were at odds with each other quite a bit, quarreling about the smallest things. She also mentioned that because the two did not get along, she was forced to look for alternative routes to create chemistry between the two.

Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy Were At Odds With Each Other
This isn’t the only time Charlize Theron has to deal with not getting along with her co-star as the actress faced this problem during her 2016 movie, Mad Max: Fury Road. The actress starred in the movie alongside the Venom actor, Tom Hardy. The actress did an interview with Vanity Fair where she talked about how the two were either always fighting with each other or giving each other the cold shoulder.
“it was like two parents in the front of the car. We were either fighting or we were icing each other—I don’t know which one is worse—and they had to deal with it in the back. It was horrible! We should not have done that; we should have been better. I can own up to that.” She stated during her interview with Vanity Fair.
Theron revealed in an interview that she regretted the way she acted toward the actor for the sake of professionalism as their relationship with each other made the crew very uncomfortable and the work environment quite toxic.
