Melissa Jefferson AKA Lizzo is one of the most renowned singers of all time. A vocalist, rapper, and songwriter all in one, the 35-year-old has released numerous superhit songs with the lyrics mostly celebrating body positivity, self-love, and individuality. However, despite being such a strongly charismatic personality, the body-positive icon has been recently facing a lot of backlash following s-xual harassment and fat-shaming allegations from her former dancers.
But what has gotten Lizzo more upset is the fact that her celebrity pals, especially Marvel star Harry Styles and Adele, have not spoken publicly on her topic to support her after the constantly surfacing allegations.
Lizzo Upset Over Celeb Pals Not Supporting Her Publicly Following Allegations
Lizzo was celebrated as a body-positivity-spreading icon whose songs were mostly based on the same theme up until recently after her former dancers alleged her of fat-shaming and s-xual harassment. Finding herself in a tough position where she is in much need of support, the Juice singer looked for help from her celebrity pals but was left disappointed as she found none.
An insider recently came up to reveal the Truth Hurts star’s current situation, saying,
“This has been one of the toughest weeks Lizzo has had in her life. She is aware these are potentially career-ending allegations but has been really disappointed by the lack of public support from her friends inside the industry. Lizzo is especially close with Harry Styles, Adele, Rihanna, and Shawn Mendes. She was really looking for them to come out and speak publicly or through their social media channels — but sadly for her, that hasn’t happened.”
While she wanted her pals like Harry Styles, Adele, Rihanna, and Shawn Mendes, who had been there for her in her good time to celebrate her to now take the step to support her publicly during her bad times as well, there’s a good enough reason behind them not stepping up for the same. According to the source,
“They have all been in touch privately. But due to the severity of the allegations, they have been advised by their management to stay silent until we find out if there is any truth behind them.”
All in all, Lizzo has found herself all alone in a tough time like this as even her celebrity friends cannot do anything to help her.
Lizzo Claims She Is ‘Not The Villain’ That The Media Portrays Her To Be
The About Damn Time star also claimed that the former dancers who put the allegations on her had been sacked because their behavior on tour was unprofessional and inappropriate, and that they themselves publicly admitted to it. Branding their accusations as ‘too outrageous not to be addressed’, she further said,
“I’m not here to be looked at as a victim, but I know I’m not the villain people and the media portray me to be. These last few days have been gut-wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing. My work ethic, morals, and respectfulness have been questioned.”
As more and more people keep stepping up to support her former dancers, Lizzo is now said to be heading toward a court trial where she will have to face all the allegations that she has been accused of.
