Hollywood is an extremely challenging industry to work in. Actors are in fierce competition with one another for converted roles. Olivia Wilde is an extraordinary actress and filmmaker. She has achieved superstardom thanks to her acting prowess and gorgeous looks. She did, however, once experience rejection for a surprising cause.
On The Howard Stern Show, Olivia Wilde shared the story of how she found out about the true reason she was rejected for the role of Naomi Lapaglia, Jordan Belfort’s second wife in The Wolf Of Wall Street.
Olivia Wilde was Told She was “too old” for The Wolf of Wall Street Role
Olivia Wilde claimed that she was deemed too old to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street. During an interview on The Howard Stern Show, Wilde revealed that she had tried out for the role of Naomi Lapaglia, the main character’s second wife, who was based on Nadine Caridi, a real-life person, but was rejected.
Speaking to Howard Stern, Wilde said: “I had heard for a part that I was too sophisticated.”
“I was like, ‘Oh, that sounds nice. I like that feedback. I didn’t get the part, but I’m a very sophisticated person.’
“And then I found out later that they actually said ‘old.’”
Meanwhile, DiCaprio was 38 at that time while Wilde was 28.
The film has had an A-list ensemble cast that includes: Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Kyle Chandler, Rob Reiner, Jon Bernthal, and Matthew McConaughey, among others.

Since director Martin Scorsese later chose to cast her in his series Vinyl, the star was philosophical about the earlier rejection.
“It shows that if you don’t get something — job interview, whatever you do for a living — it might lead to something else,” she said.
Furthermore, Wilde added that she thought Margot Robbie was “perfect” for the role. “She kicked so much a*s in that movie,” Wilde added.
When Robbie, now 33, played Leonardo DiCaprio’s wife in the movie that served as her breakthrough role in Hollywood, she was sixteen years DiCaprio’s junior.
