Harrison Ford has been one of the oldest and most legendary actors in Hollywood. An A-lister who has starred in over 70 movies created throughout his career span, the now-81-year-old has made a fortune through his movie masterpieces. Best renowned for portraying Indiana Jones in the Indiana Jones franchise, Ford has most recently reprised his character one last time in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which is the ‘bidding-goodbye’ movie from the franchise.
During an interview for the same, Harrison Ford revealed how the 1981 superhit Raiders of the Lost Ark had a lot of complications while shooting in North Africa, unlike the spectacular image it portrayed on the big screens.

While Raiders of the Lost Ark became one of the best movies from the Indiana Jones franchise for its unique storyline and Harrison Ford’s spectacular acting, the behind-the-scenes of the movie weren’t exactly as spectacular, as revealed by the 81-year-old legend.
Appearing on CNN for his most recent interview for the last of Indiana Jones movie, Ford recalled the time when everyone on sets of Raiders of the Lost Ark was suffering from dysentery due to the less-than-ideal conditions – all except Steven Spielberg. Revealing the lengths to which the director went to avoid getting contaminated, Ford said,
Even though his precautions were maybe a little bit too weird, however, they did work for Spielberg, judging how he wasn’t willing to mess around on the sets with his health while filming.
How Harrison Ford Filmed Key Scene Of Raiders of the Lost Ark While Sick
Although sick, Harrison Ford didn’t step back from giving his best while shooting the $389M movie. What’s more, is that the legend’s dysentery also ended up leading to a very famous scene in the film – where Indiana Jones whips out his gun in the middle of the bazaar to shoot a confrontational, scimitar-wielding swordsman.
Remembering his ‘adventurous’ experience of still filming Raiders of the Lost Ark despite being struck with a terribly deadly disease, Ford said,
Nevertheless, Harrison Ford’s and Steven Spielberg’s, along with everyone else’s, hard work and splendid contributions to the movie ended up making it nothing less than a masterpiece worth watching.
