James Cameron’s iconic movie Titanic celebrated its 25th anniversary, the previous year. But can you believe, the cult classic that earned the reputation for being one of the greatest movies of all time, almost didn’t happen after Leonardo DiCaprio’s co-star, Kate Winslet nearly quit shooting.

The romantic tragedy based on the doomed 1912 ship, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as Jack and Rose, almost killed the actress after a particular scene. Fearing for her life, Winslet developed a negativity towards the film, which made her decide to quit the shoots. Guess what happened on set that almost forced the actress to leave in between.

Kate Winslet’s Near-Death Accident On Titanic 

It has been a long time since we watched Rose and Jack fall in love with the glorious Titanic, which ended up being the most popular love story in film. James Cameron’s 1997 monumental masterpiece, not only garnered accolades and praises but also developed an adorable strong friendship between the stellar cast, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

Launching the two young celebrities to their fame, Cameron’s Titanic became the epic blockbuster of all time. However, while filming, the cast and crew faced certain mishaps which were initially overlooked as petty issues. Nonetheless, it was Kate Winslet who started suffering the most and thus inculcated negativity towards the movie.

According to an interview with the LA Times, the fair maiden of the movie, Winslet, nearly drowned, contracted influenza, and suffered extreme chill from being immersed in cold water, during the course of production. However, nothing scared her more than her near-death experience, where she mirrored the real-life incident, but in a not-so-stellar way.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Movie Went Under Threat 

As per reports, Kate Winslet who landed arguably the most important role of her career in Titanic, almost decided to quit the movie while filming. It was revealed during an interview, how Winslet refused to wear a wetsuit on set while filming in the frigid waters. Therefore, the actress developed life-threatening pneumonia from the cold.

This particular incident not only scared the life out of her but also caused her to develop negative feelings toward the film. According to reports, Leonardo DiCaprio’s Titanic almost died in production after Kate Winslet nearly made up her mind to quit. However, despite the movie being under threat because of Winslet, James Cameron held on tight and convinced the actress to stay.

After which, we all know the end result, as Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s Titanic (1997) turned out to be a grandeur in the world of cinema. Despite all odds and almost dying while filming, Winslet proved her ability to flawlessly portray Rose, and Leonardo DiCaprio stole the show with his phenomenal charm and exceptional performance.
