Being the brilliant actor that he is, it didn’t take long for Leonardo DiCaprio to rise to fame in Hollywood. But while DiCaprio was enjoying his golden days as an actor after being greatly applauded for his movie Titanic, a concerning encounter with a fan left the actor in shock for a long time.

This crazy incident happened when his fame was on a new level with James Cameron’s Titanic receiving worldwide acclamation when a fan’s reaction to meeting the Inception actor caught him off guard. Recalling the experience, DiCaprio revealed,

“This young girl came up to me with this real wild look in her eyes and clutched my leg and dug into my leg with all her might. And I looked down at her and it was the most surreal thing in the world because it wasn’t really about me or anything, it wasn’t. I was trying to communicate [with her]. I was saying, ‘It’s okay, you can stand up, I’ll talk to you, we’ll have a conversation’, but she was like ‘No!’ [imitates her fan’s reaction] You know. And that’s when I realized that things were gonna be different.”

Although he enjoyed being famous, this encounter made Leonardo DiCaprio realize that while fame is highly desirable, you need to put up with the disturbing attention that comes along with fame as well.

Possessing a career as diverse as his, Leonardo DiCaprio sits on an extraordinary throne of fame. However, it wasn’t always like this. While the Inception actor started small with supporting roles in low-budget movies from 1985, his fame came to him not much later by the 1990s with movies like Romeo + Juliet (1996).

But after he secured the lead role playing a doomed lover Jack Dawson in Titanic, his reputation as a teenage heartthrob legit soared as the romantic melodrama directed by James Cameron got released in 1997. Making DiCaprio a leading man in the industry’s blockbusters, Titanic went on to become the highest-grossing movie of all time.

While the actor has starred in several blockbuster movies since then, including Inception and Django Unchained, the real-instances-based movie Titanic remains Leonardo DiCaprio’s personal best film to date.
