Leonardo DiCaprio put in a good word with Director James Foley to get Mark Wahlberg on the project
Reports have alleged that after acting together in their iconic film The Basketball Diaries, actor Leonardo DiCaprio put in a good word for his co-star Mark Wahlberg with James Foley who was set to direct the movie Fear.
Following that, Foley and Wahlberg spent the rest of the day talking about the part until Foley later told Wahlberg that he truly liked him but wouldn’t be taking into consideration the lead character of David McCall. However, after being invited to come in and try out for one of David’s criminal buddies, Wahlberg so impressed Foley with his audition that Foley threatened to quit directing the film if Wahlberg didn’t get the part of David.
The movie ended up having a TV adaptation made
Wahlberg’s movie ended up becoming so successful that in 2022, talks of making a TV adaptation of the same name came up via Variety. Jessica Goldberg, who created The Path, will both write and executive produce the show. For Imagine Television, Brian Grazer, who produced the movie, will also serve as an executive producer alongside Ron Howard, Lilly Burns, and Kristen Zolner. Universal Television is the production company behind the show.
This TV adaptation series reinvention sees two young lovers in a psychological game of cat and mouse, but who is the cat, and who is the mouse? The moment David and Nicole first meet in Seattle, it seems like the beginning of an epic, once-in-a-lifetime romance. However, as time goes on, it becomes apparent that the seemingly ideal couple is anything but. The series, which is told from opposing points of view, deals with inner issues, and covert plans, and spins the story into a suspenseful tale about toxic relationships.
