Leonardo DiCaprio Got 17 Stitches When a Woman Attacked Him

The bizarre attack that happened on the actor occurred in 2005 when he was in Hollywood Hill. For the uninitiated, the actor was leaving a party hosted by Paris Hilton’s ex-boyfriend Hollywood restaurant owner Rick Salomon. According to DiCaprio’s publicist, a woman named Aretha Wilson appeared out of nowhere and aggressively attacked the Hollywood star.

The publicist said,

“The actor was in Los Angeles during a short break from filming The Departed. While leaving a small private gathering, Leo was attacked by a woman who was trespassing and had repeatedly been asked to leave the property.”

On hearing about the attack on the Catch Me If You Can star, people assumed it was a slap, or punch, however, the attack was very serious.

Reportedly, Wilson used a bottle to attack the actor’s face. The actor DiCaprio suffered major injuries, reportedly he had to get 17 stitches on his face, and his eye was also bloodshot.

What happened to the woman who attacked Leonardo DiCaprio?

The woman was immediately detained, after the attack on the star. On being asked the reason for such brutality, she said that she mistook the actor for her ex-boyfriend.

The woman, Aretha Wilson, was charged with assault using a deadly weapon, but she initially pleaded not guilty in court. If the woman had gone for a full trial, she would have faced seven years of jail. But she struck a deal and pleaded guilty. She was sentenced to two years in prison.

As per the statement given to the press, it seemed that everyone involved was happy with how the situation worked out. Wilson’s lawyer Freddy Sayegh shared that she was pleased with the results. It was reported that the Canadian woman was deported due to her actions. Additionally, one of the prosecutors revealed that DiCaprio was pleased that a settlement was done out of court.

Leonardo DiCaprio was last seen in the comedy-dramas Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with Brad Pitt and Don’t Look Up with Jennifer Lawrence in 2021. He will be next seen in Martin Scorsese’s film Killers of the Flower Moon. It will release in theatres on 20 October 2023.
