Larian Boss says Focus will Shift Back to the ‘Divinity’ Franchise after Baldur’s Gate 3

Coming soon from developer Larian we will be getting Baldur’s Gate 3; from looking at it, we will be getting a fantastic collaboration between DnD and console gaming as Larian continues to progress with Baldur’s Gate. There are also talks that Larian will return their focus to their own RPG franchise Divinity which has had numerous games since 2002, and now Larian boss Swen Vinckie has announced that after Baldur’s Gate 3 is complete and they take a short break, they will be returning to develop Divinity.

What is Divinity, and why is this such a big deal?

Throughout the years, Divinity has had a few different titles that have been released and have had some rather exciting gameplay included in them. Some were created to play like Diablo as you can freely explore and combat enemies, whilst some of the newer games have been more based on turn-based combat which limits actions of the character and adds a more strategic and tactical aspect to the game.

Over the years, Larian has been solely developing the world of Divinity as it is its own creation and has complete free rein over how the world and games are created, so if Larian isn’t developing these games, they won’t be developed, which has worried many fans of the Divinity series. Still, now thanks to this information, it will please a lot of fans as they can now see that they will be getting a brand new game in the future, which hopefully will follow the same track that the most recent game, Divinity: Original Sin 2, has set.

Will it be set to the same grand scale as Baldur’s Gate 3?

So far, from what we know of Baldur’s Gate 3, there is going to be a large and expansive world full of quests, characters and fun activities to explore with a lot of depth and creativity involved, but will this be the same for the future Divinity game that may release in coming years. Hopefully, the next Divinity game will have a similar expansive world for us to explore as the older games were already quite large and fun to explore, which would mean that we can only hope that this will follow through on their next game and give us a lot more to explore.

Over the years, Larian has been developing its character customisation and, as always, tends to have a set of pre-created characters that gamers can choose from to play the story as or create their own, and hopefully, this trend will continue after Baldur’s Gate 3 as it has already been released that Baldur’s Gate 3 will have a significant character customisation aspect and has been worked on for a very long time, so we can only hope that this will be brought over to Divinity when they begin development.
