Lance Reddick has had an impressive Hollywood career. Starting off as an actor in the late 90s, he landed his big break in 2002 after he was cast to portray Cedric Daniels in HBO’s, The Wire. His career took heights after his incredible performance in the HBO crime drama and Reddick continued to entertain as he adapted himself to a wide range of characters under multiple genres from comedy to action to horror.
He was also cast alongside Keanu Reeves in the 2105 action thriller, John Wick, and would be appearing in the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4. But days before its release, Reddick mysteriously passed away at the age of 60.
Lance Reddick Passed Away at 60
The John Wick actor, Lance Reddick passed away at 60 at his Studio City home in Los Angeles on Friday morning. TMZ reported that his body was discovered in his Studio City home on Friday around 9:30 in the morning. The cause of death is not yet determined, but their law enforcement sources believe the cause appears to be natural.
The Resident Evil star had been busy with promotional events for the upcoming John Wick film and was expected to appear on The Kelly Clarkson Show next week. Earlier this week, Reddick also did not attend the premiere of John Wick: Chapter 4.
Reddick shared a short video recently, in which he appears to be at his home. However, he did not reveal the reason behind not going to the John Wick 4 premiere. The Fringe actor was known for his work on TV and on the big screen and was also set to portray the Greek god Zeus in the upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians, on Disney+.
John Wick Creators Mourn Lance Reddick
The director and the star of the John Wick franchise mourn the passing of Lance Reddick. Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves have dedicated the upcoming John Wick film to the late actor. They said, “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick.”
“He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family, and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly.”
His co-star Ian McShane also shared his condolences with Reddick’s family, sending “peace and love to his wife, Stephanie, and all his family.” He also described Lance Reddick as a “wonderful human” and a “wonderful colleague “ Lionsgate has also released a statement saying that the studio would remember his work as they shared their condolences to Reddick’s family, friends, and fans all around the world.
Lance Reddick played Charon in the John Wick franchise and fans will see him in his character in the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4.
