Kurt Russell is one of the most established actors the world has ever seen. The American actor first rose to fame for his role in the series The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters at the tender age of 12. Although Kurt Russell gained a lot of fame for his role in the famous Dexter Riley film series, it seems like the actor lost on some great opportunities throughout his career. The Silkwood actor rejected some major roles in the movie adaptations of the DC comics which shocked the whole world.
According to sources, Russell reportedly turned down the roles of Commissioner Jim Gordon in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy and Jonathan Kent in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy will certainly go down as one of the greatest superhero movie series of all time. Everything just seemed perfect about the series, from the plot of the movies to the casting of the characters. However, it was once revealed that Nolan missed out on casting a better Commissioner Jim Gordon than Gary Oldman.
According to sources, Christopher Nolan initially offered the role of Commissioner Jim Gordon to Kurt Russell. However, the Escape from New York actor allegedly turned down the iconic role.
It was later revealed that Oldman was not even Nolan’s second or third choice for the role. The role was offered to Chris Cooper and Dennis Quaid before Gary Oldman eventually got the role of Commissioner Jim Gordon.
The actor also turned down the role of Jonathan Kent in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel
It seems like Kurt Russell really held something against the DC franchise as he came really close to playing another iconic role in the DCEU. According to sources, Russell was also considered for the role of Jonathan Kent in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. However, it was eventually decided that Kevin Costner would be a better fit to play the role of Clark Kent’s father in the movie than Russell.
Kurt Russell was allegedly a Marvel fan all along as he eventually did take up the role of Ego the Living Planet in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 back in 2017.
