Kevin Feige, The President of Marvel, joined Marvel as an associate producer for Lauren Shuler Donner in 2000. He is one of the highest-grossing producers of all time making an unshakable empire of $28.5 billion dollars. Feige has overseen Marvel Cinematic Universe’s four phases, and possibly many more on the way.
However, there is an exclusive report which states that the Marvel president is looking for an exit from Marvel, and is looking for a new role at Disney. Kevin Feige has been linked to Disney for writing a Star Wars movie for quite some time, but his responsibilities as the Marvel President have always hindered him from writing the movie, and it was earlier reported that Feige’s Star Wars film has been shelved by Lucasfilm.
Kevin Feige’s Possible New Position At Disney
Kevin Feige was linked with Disney for some time and it was stated that the Marvel President would produce a Star Wars film after the new sequels failed to perform at the Box Office and could not recreate the success of the original films. Earlier it was stated that the Black Panther producer will be working on a Star Wars film along with Michael Waldron, but he has been busy with phase 5 and phase 6 of Marvel.
Recently, during the newest episode of The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider who is a reliable industry insider states that he had heard reports which state that Kevin Feige is reportedly looking to fill Alan Bergman’s role at Disney. He started by discussing the possible future of the producer as phase 4 performed poorly, and the newest movie of phase 5 is “getting destroyed by the critics.” However, he heard a couple of months ago that Kevin Feige might walk away from Marvel.
Sneider did mention that Kevin Feige will not leave immediately, but in a few years’ time, he will walk away and he stated how the Marvel President has often stated in his interviews “I’ve been doing this half of my life.” Sneider added that he might work on the Star Wars film “I’ve heard the job that Kevin has always coveted is that of Alan Bergman.” said Jeff Sneider. He added, “Feige wants to be the number two at Disney.”
If Jeff Sneider’s reports are true, then Kevin Feige will have a lot of creative liberty as he would oversee all the projects.
“Being the creative absolute head of a studio who can put his fingerprints on everything and leave maybe the business stuff to someone in the Iger-type of seat, who has to oversee parks, resorts and cruise ships. [Kevin Feige] aspires to be more than the head of a label.”
Even though it is unsure, if the Avengers: Endgame producer would step down as the president of Marvel, what could this move mean for Marvel Studios? And most importantly who will be the new President?
Who is Alan Bergman?
Alan Bergman is the Co-Chairman of Walt Disney Studios, he has also served as the Chairman of Walt Disney Studios from 2020 to 2023, as he oversaw Disney’s movies and projects, which included works from Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, and 20th Century Studios.
However, during the restructuring of the Walt Disney Company, Alan Bergman was promoted to the Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment which granted him full power over every film, TV Series, streaming, and other media production and distribution. Bergman’s promotion has made him a possible candidate who will succeed Bob Iger as CEO of Disney.
Will Kevin Feige Takeover Alan Bergman’s role?
Ever since the restructuring took place at Disney Studios, it is unclear if Alan Bergman’s role needs to be filled in. However, if the role needs to be filled in then Feige would be an ideal candidate. Moreover, the Marvel President has a special place in Bob Iger’s heart as he saved him from being fired by Ike Perlmutter in 2015.
Moreover, the producer has stated that he has no interest in running another studio, and it is understandable because Feige is an ambitious man, and he wants something more, perhaps creatively overseeing all of Disney’s properties.
The Future of Kevin Feige’s MCU
Kevin Feige’s phase 5 of MCU is looking bleak despite Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania being highly anticipated. However, it is too early to judge the future of the MCU because Jonathan Majors who joined the MCU as Kang the Conqueror did a great job and he may be the main antagonist for phase 5 and phase 6 of MCU.
Moreover, during the podcast, the host stated that Feige will not leave Marvel Studios because it is a matter of pride as he wants to walk out of the MCU with the same glory and popularity as when he joined the franchise. Therefore it is possible, although unconfirmed, that he might step down as the President, after the end of phase 6.
