Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Advice to Scott Adkins
Scott Adkins starred alongside Keanu Reeves in the fourth installment of the John Wick franchise. He portrayed Killa Harkan, the head of German Table, in the 2023 film. While promoting John Wick 4, he revealed the advice he received from one of the biggest action stars in Hollywood, Jean-Claude Van Damme.
They have worked together in several films, and it was while filming The Expendables 2 that the Adkins received some advice from the Black Water actor. When asked if he accidentally got punched by his co-star while making the film, Adkins said, “No, he’s got good control.”
The Dead Reckoning actor shared that while filming The Expendables sequel, Van Damme told him, “When you die, you die like a hero.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I know what you mean. Ok, thanks, Jean Claude..” He further mentioned that his character’s ending was not so heroic in the film, but The Bouncer actor did.
Scott Adkins on the Final Fight Scene in Universal Soldier
Jean-Claude Van Damme has been featured in multiple Universal Soldier movies. After starring in the first film in the series, he reprised his role as Luc Deveraux in the future sequels. Scott Adkins joined the cast of the sixth and final film in the film series as its protagonist, John, who seeks revenge on the killer of his wife and daughter.
The final film was set to feature Luc Deveraux, and according to Adkins, there were a lot of discussions before going ahead with his plot. “Van Damme’s not been killed very many times in his career. It was a new thing for him,” he shared. The One Shot actor shared that there was a “whole negotiation” for the final fight scene of the film.
Directed by John Hyams, Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning is considered one of the best films in the franchise for its action sequences and direction. It was also an attempt to reboot the franchise, but there have been no new updates under the series so far.
