With each entry in the John Wick franchise getting progressively better than its predecessor, it’s reasonable to assume that Keanu Reeves’ paycheck will also witness a spike with each entry. And even though John Wick might not be a man of many words and his guns do most of the talking for him, it didn’t stop The Matrix star from taking a healthy amount back home.
Although the future of John Wick is still under wraps. Considering the character’s story concluded with the fourth movie, it might be a long while before we see Reeves pairing up with Chad Stahelski for a fifth part.
Keanu Reeves reportedly made $39,473 for each of his words in John Wick: Chapter 4
Even though Keanu Reeves reportedly didn’t even speak nearly 400 words, it didn’t hinder his paycheck. Unlike his previous salary, where the actor made around $1-2 million dollar for John Wick and around $2-3 million for the sequel. Reeves reportedly took home a mammoth total of $15 million for his role in the fourth movie.
And considering that the actor reportedly spoke only 380 words in the movie, it means that he almost made $39,473 for each of his words in the fourth entry. But despite not having a hefty amount of dialogue in the movie, it didn’t take away the emotions from the movie and fans were able to resonate with the character, thanks to Reeves’ exceptional performance.
Keanu Reeves is done with John Wick for now
Despite the movie’s immense success at the box office, it seems that it might be a while before we see Keanu Reeves back in action as Baba Yaga again. As Chad Stahelski is ready to move past the action franchise and focus on other projects, including a live-action adaptation of the Ghost of Tsushima game. Both Stahelski and Keanu Reeves are ready to give the franchise some rest.
Even though the fourth movie was able to wrap the entire story of John Wick, it doesn’t mean that they don’t have further plans for the characters. Following the success of the fourth movie, it’s most likely that the fifth part will get greenlit soon but it might be a long wait for fans.
Even though Reeves is set to take a step back from the iconic franchise before jumping back again. The John Wick universe is set to expand beyond its titular character with projects including, The Continental and Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas at its forefront.
