Titanic’s Production Wasn’t Smooth For Kate Winslet

While filming Titanic, Kate Winslet suffered from Pneumonia after spending days filming an icy tank. Moreover, 50 crew members got sick after they consumed a dodgy batch of chowder. Not just that, the film budget had to be increased, and the filming went way over schedule. Despite that, the film turned out to be a huge success and won 11 Academy Awards.

When inquired about how she feels watching the movie now, Winslet jokingly responded saying, “I haven’t seen for 26 years. No, actually, that’s not true. The last time I saw it was when it came out in 3D in 2012.

“In the script, it said something very basic like Jack and Rose run through the flooded dinning room, and that one description was two days worth of shooting… I look back and remember those things how nothing was exactly what it appeared to be on page, I remember that.”

The thought of anyone other than Kate Winslet taking on the role of Rose in Titanic seems implausible. This intriguing possibility emerged when Claire Danes revealed that she was almost cast to reunite with her Romeo + Juliet co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio, for the iconic character of Rose in James Cameron’s monumental romantic masterpiece.

“I love not getting into those f*cking dresses and those f*cking shoes. All the money. It’s always really pained me, the money that gets wasted on colossal, great big junkets: flying journalists, actors, glam squads all over the world. Why the hell is any of that important? If I cared what I looked like, I would have put makeup on right now.”

The romantic blockbuster, Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, is now available for streaming on Netflix.
