The film in question is Django Unchained which featured an ensemble cast including Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Samuel L. Jackson. Quentin Tarantino’s directorial delved deep into the concept of slavery, which turned out to be one of the major achievements in the film industry. 

During a press conference, the MCU actor talked about his casting in the 2012 film sharing that the filmmaker, Quentin Tarantino approached him with the script. He had no idea about the role he was about to offer as he shared,

“When he was sending Django, he actually didn’t want to tell me that I wasn’t going to Django. He said, ‘Well, the character’s Stephen’ and I was like, Who’s Stephen?”

While he was unsure of what would be his role in the movie, he was down to portray Stephen Warren’s role.

“Just read the script, I read it and I called him back and said, ‘So you want me to be the most despicable Negro in the history of cinema!’ We were both like laughing together and we said: ‘Yaaaaah! Let’s get on that!'”

Things eventually set in motion as the filming kickstarted but he revealed that his scenes had to go through major edits.
