Why Does Gojo Satoru wear a blindfold?

Many people believe that Gojo’s blindfold is inspired by Kakashi Hatake from Naruto who wears a mask. The two are among the leading characters of their anime and the blindfold and the mask add mystery to their charm, but that is not the case. Satoru’s blindfold has a big reason behind it.

Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, described the significance of Gojo’s blindfold in an interview. According to Akutami, the Six Eyes gave him a clear view of the cursed energy coming from other people. When Gojo is blindfolded, his vision resembles high-resolution thermography. He can still sense everything around him, and the blindfold kind of cuts down on the amount of cursed energy expended.

Akutami further emphasized:

“If he doesn’t wear the blindfold, he’ll get tired easily, even though he is using the reverse cursed technique to keep his brain fresh.”

The inventor also claimed that if a regular person were to wear Gojo’s sunglasses, they would only be able to see total darkness, which would help us distinguish and understand Gojo’s powers.
