Reality is truly more amusing than fiction and a great example of this is the ongoing saga of Lady Gaga’s dog kidnappers wanting the reward money for returning the pups they stole in the first place. The dogwalker was shot by one or more gunmen, and two of the celebrity’s French Bulldogs, named Gustav and Koji, were stolen. But that’s not the end of it. The entitled robbers are now suing the global popstar in an attempt to get their promised half a million dollars. What’s more, is that they want double the reward now.
Lady Gaga’s Dog Kidnapper Wants Her To Pay Up
TMZ reports that Lady Gaga was sued by the woman connected to the theft of her two French Bulldogs. In a lawsuit that will make anyone’s eyes go wide, Jennifer McBride wants the superstar to pay up the reward money of $500k she promised to gift “no questions asked” if the pups were returned to her. McBride says that she did return the two canines to the singer on February 26, 2021, just a couple of days after they got stolen.
But the case doesn’t end here. McBride doesn’t want just the $500k reward money. She wants the court to force the Joker 2 star to pay up triple the reward money, which is $1.5 million. All for posting a misleading reward advertisement. What makes the lawsuit bizarre is that McBride is connected to the original crime. She was apparently in a relationship with the father of one of the men who assaulted Lady Gaga’s dogwalker, Ryan Fischer, and stole the pups.
Fischer was walking 3 of the singer’s French Bulldogs before 10 PM in Hollywood when one or more gunmen attacked and shot him. He was writhing on the sidewalk after getting shot but was helped by neighbors and has now survived. The gunmen fled with two of the pooches, and the last dog fled from the scene but was later recovered.
Will Lady Gaga Lose The Lawsuit?
TMZ reports McBride was charged with being an accessory to the theft and also for getting the stolen property. In court, she didn’t contest the charges of getting stolen property and as such was handed down 2 years of probation. James Howard Jackson, who fired the gun, also didn’t contest the charges of attempted murder. He was sentenced to prison for 21 years.
The outlet said that McBride and her co-conspirators believed that she could get involved in the theft without any consequences because as a white woman, she would go undetected. Michele Hanisee, the L.A. County Deputy District Attorney said that the woman was aware of the stolen pups and had known the men involved for years. Also, she returned the dogs only to collect the reward money.
McBride’s dreams of becoming instantly rich might not come to fruition because if Lady Gaga encountered any financial losses, she could in turn seek to get financial restitution from McBride. Truly, how the tables turn.
