Johnny Depp has had a tough 2022 with all the drama surrounding him and Amber Heard. After winning the defamation trial against Heard, he decided to settle in Somerset, UK away from the hustle and bustle of life as well as Hollywood to get some peace. But fans of Heard are claiming that the actor isn’t done with his ex-wife. They claim that a new interview given by the Pirates of the Caribbean actor was actually a way of flaunting his new wealthy living conditions in the face of Heard who is hiding in Spain with her daughter Oonagh.
Johnny Depp Talks About Living In A Mansion
In an interview with Somerset Life, Johnny Depp stated that he is residing in Somerset in a 19th-century mansion that has 8 bathrooms and 12 bedrooms. The entire property stretches over 850 acres and also has walled gardens. He also stated that he loves being around British people and going sightseeing. As per the famous actor:
“I just love places with character. British people are cool and will greet you as if you are a neighbour — without going over the top. I like going to places, seeing things and meeting people — but I’m not the great extrovert that people think.”
Depp said that he’s a quiet and shy person and that being in Somerset allows him to get the peace he wants instead of being grabbed for selfies all the time. He said:
“In truth, I’m quite a shy person. That’s one of the great things about Britain, and especially Somerset. I can just be me — and that’s nice. I can go into shops without being surrounded by people wanting selfies. I don’t mind that up to a point, but sometimes it gets a little too crowded.”
Depp originally purchased the mansion in 2014 when he was engaged to Amber Heard, his now ex-wife. Heard fans think that the actor is showing off how much money and fame he still has even after the expensive and public trial while their favorite actress hides from the public in Spain. But is that really what Depp is doing?
Is Johnny Depp Intentionally Going After Amber Heard?
It seems like Johnny Depp is giving interviews to local magazines like Somerset Life and letting them tour his home simply because he is residing there. Also, the magazines probably don’t want to lose a chance to interview a megastar like him. After the defamation trial was settled, Johnny Depp was awarded $15 million in damages and Amber Heard got $2 million in compensatory damages for one of the three counter-claims she won against her ex-husband.
The Aquaman star is currently residing in Spain with her daughter Oonagh after losing the trial. Even there, no one has disturbed her for photographs or such too much even though she has been out and about a little. So it looks like both of the celebrities are living a quiet life and Heard’s fans are grasping at straws trying to blame Depp for doing the same. However, with Aquaman 2 set for release in 2023, where the actress reportedly has a small role to play, we might see her during promotional tours or marketing for the film.
