In an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the host speaks to the redundancy of the Batsuit from the 2016 film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The infamous second film of the controversial SnyderVerse trilogy, the movie pinned two of the greatest heavyweights of the DC universe against each other in a run-up to the chapter that ultimately brought the Justice League together. But as cinematically hypnotic as the film was in its every minuscule detail, one notable factor from the costume department has caused major irritation for Joe Rogan ever since the film’s release 6 years ago.
Joe Rogan Hates the Batsuit From Batman v Superman (2016)
While discussing the intricacies of Zack Snyder’s sophomore DC Extended Universe film, Joe Rogan and Brenda Schaub land on a detail that seems too idiotic in its conception in the otherwise brilliantly scripted and directed movie. While every actor playing a live-action Bat of Gotham has had his individual take on the comic book legend, Ben Affleck‘s might have been the grimmest, most destructive, and terror-inducing dark version to have existed on the screens.
In the climactic battle that pits Batfleck against Henry Cavill‘s Superman, the audience witnesses a suit of armor that reflects the design of the Batsuit down to the cape but without the luxury of the expandable spandex. Given how the gnarly raw fistfight between the two superheroes takes place at close quarters, the missing guard for the chin area seems an almost comical error for the director to not have foreseen.
“The chin part is terrible, because that’s the part you wanna punch… It’s like you have camoflauge for everywhere except the spot where you get knocked out… It’s like the dumbest idea ever… How about you just open up the nose part, too, so your nose gets smashed!”
Granted Snyder wanted to reflect the comic book perfection of the characters in his movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was already a terrifying vision rooted in realism and tragedy. Sticking to the source when it came to Batman’s armored suit seems a little too “idiotic” to Joe Rogan since it leaves the Bat of Gotham defenseless if Superman were to land a right hook across his face.

Ben Affleck’s Batman Bows Out Gracefully From the DCU
In recent news, James Gunn has dictated the end of the SnyderVerse heroes in the current DC Universe with Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck officially subject to a direct departure from their respective roles. But while Cavill bids adieu with a firm finality, Affleck’s short stint is set to be followed up by the actor shunning his onscreen role for a seat at the director’s table. James Gunn’s latest announcement places the Oscar-winning writer as a candidate for helming a future film for the franchise.
For now, however, Ben Affleck’s Batman is to make his final appearance as the Caped Crusader in The Flash (premiering on June 16, 2023) and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (premiering on December 25, 2023).
