Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are definitely one of Hollywood’s power couples. When they got married, Affleck was definitely at the top of his game. But it looks like Lopez has changed the stats with her latest release and left her husband behind. At least, in terms of how their careers are progressing right now.
But that’s not all. Jennifer Lopez has also seemingly left behind other well-known and established Hollywood actors like Jennifer Aniston and Daniel Craig with her latest film on Netflix. A lot of people were surprised by her unexpected victory and couldn’t help but raise their eyebrows at the situation.
Jennifer Lopez’s New Film Beats Jennifer Aniston And Daniel Craig’s Releases
Deadline reported that Jennifer Lopez’s newest Netflix offering called The Mother, that aptly released on Mother’s Day, has grabbed enormous audience attention. The site reported ratings recorded by Samba TV and stated that “The action thriller was watched by 2.8M U.S. households over its debut weekend, according to L+2D (live plus two days) data.”
As per Samba TV, The Mother saw better ratings than Glass Onion 2 and Murder Mystery 2, which were led by Daniel Craig and Jennifer Aniston respectively. As per the measuring site, “Glass Onion captured 2.6M households while Murder Mystery 2 was viewed by 2.4M.” That’s not all. Samba TV also reported that “The Mother over-indexed by 33% among Black households and 25% among Hispanic households.”
Thus, it can be concluded that Lopez’s latest film resonated with diverse audiences. Also, it’s clear that Mother’s Day weekend boosted the performance of the film. Due to such great numbers, many of her fans are now stating that the film has performed better than two of her husband, Ben Affleck’s latest films.
Jennifer Lopez Bags A Major Career Win Over Husband Ben Affleck
Ben Affleck has had two 2023 theatrical releases till now. Air has grossed $87 million till now with a budget touted to be between $70 million to $90 million. His recently released film, Hypnotic, had a budget of $65 million and has opened to only $2.4 million after releasing on May 12, 2023.
However, it’s impossible to compare Affleck’s performance with his wife’s because his movies are theatrical releases while hers is on a streaming platform. As such, there’s no way to know if people would have paid money to watch Jennifer Lopez’s The Mother in theaters.
Also, the total number of watches the pop star’s film actually received will be difficult to know unless Netflix reveals those numbers. As per the mega streaming site, Daniel Craig’s Glass Onion 2 had a viewership of 82.1 M while Jennifer Aniston’s Murder Mystery 2 netted 64M. It now remains to be seen if Lopez’s film can chart better than those two.
The Mother is now streaming on Netflix.
